WHAT'S ACUPUNCTURE?

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine practice that involves inserting thin needles into specific body points. These points are believed to be connected by pathways that create a flow of energy called Qi (pronounced ‘chee’). The goal of acupuncture is to balance the flow of Qi. This is thought to be accomplished by stimulating nerves, muscles, and connective tissue, resulting in pain relief, relaxation, and improved function of the affected areas. In veterinary medicine, acupuncture is most commonly used to treat chronic pain.

During an acupuncture session, a trained professional will carefully insert the needles into specific parts of the body, leaving them in place for 15-30 minutes. The treatment is thought to be painless and can even be relaxing for patients.

It’s essential to seek acupuncture treatment from a qualified and licensed veterinarian to ensure safety and effectiveness.
