About Dr. Schlag
Dr. Schlag grew up in Campbell Hall, NY in an old colonial house with her parents, grandparents, and siblings. She spent her summers catching frogs, dragonflies, and cicadas in the backfield and near the creek with her siblings. Nature was her source of inspiration for creating art and taking care of animals. Dr. Eric Evans at Flannery Animal Hospital inspired her to pursue veterinary medicine when she was nine years old after he saved the Schlag family’s German Shepherd Dog, Max.
Dr. Schlag graduated Summa Cum Laude from Cornell University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences in three years and later graduated from their College of Veterinary Medicine with Distinction. She completed a rotating internship at AMC, as well as surgery internships at Texas A&M and Mississippi State. Dr. Schlag was a clinical assistant professor in anesthesia at Kansas State University prior to completing her Master of Science and surgery residency at Western College of Veterinary Medicine. She has published several research articles, as well as anatomical illustrations for research papers and textbooks.
In her free time, Dr. Schlag is an avid weightlifter and enjoys spending time in nature with her husband. They share their home with a Golden Retriever, Husky mix, cat, rabbit, geckos, and a very mischievous ferret.
