Meet the Internal Medicine Team
Kelsey, Hospital Manager
Kelsey has been working in veterinary medicine for over eight years and currently serves as the Hospital Manager at Safe Haven Veterinary Hospital. Her path into the veterinary field began in an unexpected way while working for a pet photographer who specialized in capturing end-of-life portraits. Hearing clients share the stories and memories of their beloved pets inspired her to pursue a career where she could continue supporting the special bond between people and their animals.
Throughout her career, Kelsey has grown from Client Care Specialist into hospital leadership, always believing that great patient care begins with a supported and empowered team. She is passionate about creating a positive workplace culture, advocating for mental health in veterinary medicine, and leading with humanity.
One of Kelsey’s favorite parts of her role is continuing to learn. She enjoys expanding her knowledge of veterinary medicine so she can better support her doctors, team, and the hospital as it continues to grow.
Outside of work, Kelsey enjoys teaching ceramics classes at the Pittsburgh Center for Arts & Media and spending time with her little young human and her two-year-old cat, Margot.
Kelsey is excited to be part of Safe Haven Veterinary Hospital as it grows into a leading specialty and emergent care hospital. She is proud to be part of an independent, female-owned team dedicated to providing exceptional care for pets and the families who love them.

Jeff, Reception and Floor Supervisor, Internal Medicine
Jeff Waltroski took an unconventional path to veterinary medicine, bringing a unique blend of creativity, leadership, and operational expertise to Safe Haven Veterinary Hospital. After earning his degree in Film Production and Theory from Point Park University, Jeff spent nearly two decades working in the film industry before deciding to pursue a lifelong passion for animals. His journey into animal care began by managing multiple dog boarding facilities in both San Francisco and Pittsburgh, where he discovered a talent for leadership and exceptional client service that naturally led him into veterinary medicine.
